A recurring error message on some EOS 70D DSLRs is drawing the attention of Canon’s service department. Customers have been complaining of a seemingly random error message that displays “Error 70” or “Error 80” on the top display.
Canon released a statement blaming the error on an “internal communication failure resulting from the structure of the electrical printed circuit board.” Continued use is likely prevented and is further exacerbated when used in high temperature environments. Sometimes, turning the camera off and on or removing the battery can resolve the problem.
However, Canon is offering complimentary inspection and repair on 70D’s with a serial number that begins with two digits from “00” to “22.” If you’re experiencing such issues with your camera, you can bring it into a Canon Service Center for repairs.
