We are really proud to see many of our friends and colleagues on exhibit at the Smithsonian in Washington DC. In fact many of these photographers are either already in our DPG galleries or have placed in one of our international photo compoetitions. The images are great examples of our beautiful oceans and we congratulate all the photographers. We'd like to note that our very own Keri Wilk has two images included in the exhibit, go Keri!
First launched in 1996 at the Washington DC National Zoo, the Nature's Best Photography Windland Smith Rice International Awards exhibit has now become a multi-year exhibition program at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History on the National Mall, 1000 Madison Drive, NW, Washington, DC. Ocean Views, spotlights the ocean’s vast wildlife and environment.
The competition was open to all levels of photographers to share their
connections with the sea. Thousands of entries were reviewed by a panel
of judges of Smithsonian experts, photographers, and Nature's Best
staff. Forty large-format prints are accompanied by captions that tell
the stories behind the shots, as well as an HD undersea video by Howard
and Michele Hall, with an original music track. Through the stories
that these photographs tell, visitors will gain insight into ocean life
and hopefully become motivated to protect this fragile world.
