Nikon Developing “Serious” Underwater Camera
By Joseph Tepper, September 9, 2013 @ 06:00 AM (EST)

Do you pine for the good ol’ days when Nikonos dominated underwater photography? Well, they may be coming back soon.

Rumors are swimming about that Nikon is currently designing a new “serious” underwater camera—in other words, a digital Nikonos. Details are still emerging but it seems likely the camera would fit into the Nikon 1 line. To be clear, it’s not a housing of some kind, or a “tough” waterproof model like the Coolpix, but a dedicated underwater camera.

Nikon Rumors is reporting that the camera will be depth rated from 60-woo feet and could possibly feature interchangeable lenses like the old Nikonos. Although these rumblings are still young, we will definitely keep our eyes on this one!
