Nikon Announces 40mm Lens for Beginning SLR User
By Joseph Tepper, July 13, 2011 @ 09:55 AM (EST)
Nikon has announced a new macro lens, aimed at the beginning SLR user. The AF-S 40mm lens is designed to offer true 1:1 macro in an inexpensive, compact form.
The lens’ inbuilt silent motor allows it to focus on all Nikon dSLRs, including the entry level ones that lack internal focus motors. Even more impressive for the beginning underwater SLR shooters is the lens’ ability to focus within 2 inches from the front of the lens.
It is expected to be available from August 25th, retailing at $279.95.
