New Rules For Monthly Photo Contests

By Matt J. Weiss, March 1, 2010 @ 02:16 PM (EST)
First of all, I want to thank those who have entered images to the monthly photo contests. So far the entries have been of exceptional quality and I look forward to browsing through them each month.

However, we felt we needed to make a few rule changes in order to improve the judging process. The first new rule is that all entries need to be at least 500px long. This is just because it's hard to judge an image if it is very small.

Another new rule is that we ask that there be no added borders or frames on the images. We would like to judge all images based on the photograph themselves.

On that note, please keep in mind that if you are using a large watermark that covers the image it is hard to assess the overall quality of the image. This may effect the overall score the judges award the photograph. My suggestion is to use just a small, unobtrusive watermark for entries.

Lastly, we want to remind members that you are limited to three entries per contest.

The March contest, Animal Portraits,  is now live. You can visit the updated rules page here.
