Ever wonder if you spend too much time checking out the awesome DPG Instagram page? Okay, well that’s impossible. But there’s an ongoing effort by Instagram to limit the amount of time wasted on the app. A new feature called “All Caught Up” will inform users when they’ve seen every post within 48 hours, according to TechCrunch.
You may recall that Instagram was once a chronologically sorted app – ah, simpler times – allowing users to keep track of how far back images were posted. But then Instagram switched to a model similar to that of Facebook with a complex algorithm that selects which posts appear in the feed. It might seem easier to go back to that system, but instead we have the “All Caught Up” feature.
As well, Instagram will be rolling out a “Mute” button that hides selective user’s posts from your feed without unfollowing or blocking them. Mute-ees won’t be aware that they’ve been designated as such.
It would seem that these new features will simultaneously allow you to stop wasting time on what you've already seen and those of whom you've already seen too much. Read more in this report from TechCrunch.
