New GoPro Plan Will Replace Two Broken Cameras Annually
By Joseph Tepper, February 3, 2018 @ 11:52 AM (EST)

“No questions asked” is a good exchange policy when it comes to damaged underwater photography gear—the ocean can be a cruel, unforgiving place. And now GoPro’s new enhanced Plus subscription plan will replace up to two damaged cameras per year.

The souped-up protection plan costs just $5 extra per month and is currently only available to US customers, although it is expected to expand to other markets as 2018 moves on. The replacement part of the plan joins existing benefits like cloud storage and priority customer support.

The replacement applies to GoPro models from the HERO5 and newer. Each user is entitled to replace two cameras during the 12-month billing cycle for just a small fee. The exchange fee ranges from $39 (HERO5 Session) to $79 (HERO6 Black). Of note, you must send in a broken camera to receive a replacement, which means that lost cameras are not covered.

GoPro Plus will soon offer 35 hours of video backup and a 20% discount on camera accessories sold on the GoPro website. You can start your free GoPro Plus trial here
