NCUPS Announces 2010 SEA Competition Winners
The Northern California Underwater Photographic Society (NCUPS) has announced the winners of the SEA 2010 International Photo and Video Competition as well as the Bob Commer Award of Excellence. The Bob Commer Award of Excellence, given to the winner of the SEA “best in show” in honor of Mr. Commer's diverse contributions to the world of diving and underwater photography, has been awarded to DPG's own contributor Keri Wilk, who continues to receive well-deserved awards for his fantastic photos while making his way through the grueling underwater photography competition circuit.
The NCUPS has been promoting an interest in underwater photography since its founding in 1957 and now features eight separate entrance categories for all levels of photographers in its internationally recognized competition entering its forty-sixth year: Advanced California, Advanced Macro, Advanced Wide Angle, Conservation, Creative, Novice California, Novice Macro, and Novice Wide Angle.
DPG would also like to congratulate its nine members who received either a top finish or honorable mention while covering every single category in the competition: Jennifer Penner, Lucas Price, Paolo Isgro, Allison Vitsky, Tracy Clark, Noam Korther, Markus Roth, Andre de Molenaar, and Edward Snijders. The digital still competition this year brought an increase in Novice entries, up by almost double from last year, and an increase in Video entries. We hope this trend in the increase of novice and video entries continues.
As competition coordinator I want to congratulate not only the winners but all entrants on their excellent images and videos! Thank you for entering and I'll be looking forward to seeing your work next year. I’d also like to thank the judges; Ken Howard, Ethan Daniels and Mike Boom, faced with the difficult task of picking out winners from the many wonderful images and videos; and thank you to our sponsors who generously donate trips, products and services each year!
