Mistaken Identity-Baby Humpback Thinks Boat Is Its Mother

I was saddened to hear that abandoned baby humpback whale has been futiley been trying to nurse from a moored yacht in Austrialia. Its hard to hear about this, but the truth is that humpbacks will from time to time abandon their calves. This is probably just a natural incident.
According to Rueters.com, rescuers are trying to save the calf by sephereding it out into the open ocean in hopes it will reunite with its mother. However, this has been unsucsessful has the calf returned to the harbor.
Unfortunetly, the baby whale will not be able to survive more than a few days without milk. DPG will follow the fate of this young calf.
