MIA Mantas (Missing In Action)

As we reported earlier this year, Manta Point, off the coast of Tanzania, was one of several areas frequented by manta rays. Since the local fishermen have been illegally using dynamite to fish, the mantas have been killed, eaten or chased off. They have not yet returned. This has forced us to cancel all of our planned 2007 manta research trips...
