A massive 16-foot great white shark was seen swimming close to the shore of a western Australian beach and was possibly attracted by the smell of a nearby dying humpback whale.
Nicknamed "Joan of Shark" by local fishermen, the shark has a satellite tag in her stomach that alerted officials of her presence and will allow scientists and officials to track her location for the next decade.
Residents of Albany were warned to stay out of the water.
