
Marin County Fair's 'Aquatic Adventures' Debuts Saturday

The 62nd annual Marin County Fair Saturday through July 4 will enable fairgoers to explore ocean ecosystems, marine life and habitats of the bay.
The "Aquatic Adventures" theme will be evident throughout the five-day affair through special exhibits and activities, with sea lions expected to take center stage, performing four times daily.
"We try to select a theme that reflects what people in Marin care about," said fair chief Jim Farley. "Certainly people of Marin care about the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, not to forget about Drakes, Richardson and Tomales bays that surround us." But go outside the fairgrounds if you want to smoke a cigarette.
Marin's fair will be smoke-free for the first time this year, since the Board of Supervisors approved an ordinance in November making it illegal to smoke at outdoor public places in unincorporated areas - including bars and restaurants, the farmers market and the fair...
