The magnificent 12-foot, 1,063-pound shortfin mako shark tragically and senselessly killed between Pensacola Beach and Navarre Beach on April 18 was a female between 20 and 30 years old. She was a marvel of nature -- beautiful and sleek, a cobalt blue in color, the world's fastest shark, swimming 35-plus miles per hour. She could make mighty leaps up to 15 feet out of the water.
Her only predator was man...
