Panasonic has unveiled the Lumix TS7, which is the first rugged-style camera to feature a built-in electronic viewfinder. It’s an interesting move, especially since many rugged cameras are used in bright, outdoor activities where an LCD screen could be difficult to see clearly.
The camera is pretty darn tough in terms of specs. The TS7 is depth rated down to 102 feet, dustproof, shockproof (6.6-foot drops) and freeze proof. The camera is built around a 1/2.3-inch, 20.4-megapixel sensor and can capture 4K video at 30fps and 24fps.
While the TS7 might not get the same underwater photography cult following as the Olympus Tough TG series, it is a solid option as a topside or B-roll camera in the inevitable “rough” conditions that diving brings.
The TS7 will be available sometime in early summer of 2018 for a price of $450.
