Largest Squid Ever Caught And Dissected

By Matt J. Weiss, August 26, 2008 @ 02:00 AM (EST)

I was quite disappointed to hear that the huge predatory squid was scavenging on fishing lines that using its fearsome huge tentacles to hunt! I guess I get caught up in the hype too, but it turns out that these giant squids might not live up to their reputation.

According to reports by National Geographic, this 30 foot squid caught in 2007 was pregnant and probably a little more than a gelatinous blob. Though the babies may explain  why she was looking for food on a fishing line.

Check out the Nat Geo article for more info on the biggest squid and pictures of it.
