Editor's Note-
Sad story today out of Hawaii about a beached killer whale...
A female adult killer whale beached itself at Brennecke’s Beach in Poipu, Kauai last night, according to government officials.
The beach was closed this morning as federal and state officials assessed the situation.
The whale appeared to be in serious distress and by 9:30 a.m. it was determined that it could not be saved. The decision was made then to pull it out of the water and euthanize it, according to Don Heacock, aquatic biologist with the state Department of Land and Natural Resources.
