Ken Kiefer Photographs Superheroes Underwater
By Ian Bongso-Seldrup, May 24, 2018 @ 06:20 AM (EST)

Underwater shooter Ken Kiefer knows a thing or two about photographing swimmers, but for his latest pool shoot, he found an even faster and more agile subject—none other than the Spider-Man himself! A self-confessed fan of comic books and superhero movies, Kiefer was initially hoping to get Iron Man in the water, but had to settle for Peter Parker’s alter ego, as he was somewhat more, um, waterproof.

Captured during a seven-hour shoot, the resulting images shot by the Ikelite Ambassador are surprisingly effective, with superb saturated colors achieved by shooting on a sunny day and with multiple strobes. Ken used a Canon EOS 5DS and the pro-quality Canon EF 11–24mm f/4L rectilinear zoom in Ikelite’s housing, with DS161 strobes.

We can definitely see Kiefer turning this cool idea into a series: Time to dust off your Aquaman suit and give Ken a call!
