Underwater filmmaker and DPG contributor Joe Romeiro had about the coolest day a diver can have.
First, he kicked off Discovery’s Shark Week by ringing the opening bell at the NASDAQ stock market in NYC. Not grand enough? Joe then walked outside to see a giant image of himself and the Shark Week logo plastered on an enormous video screen in Times Square.
Of course, it was all a lead up to Joe’s hosting of “Monster Mako” on Discovery Channel that night. Having spent some time with Joe and Brian Raymond of Pelagic Expeditions off of Rhode Island swimming with mako sharks, it was pretty cool to see how the rest of the world reacted.
Then, to cap off the night, Joe joined comedian icon and Hollywood A-lister Kevin Hart for a joint interview on Shark After Dark. It was pretty darn funny and a great way to kick off Shark Week 2016. If you’re interested in learning more about shark photography, check out our Big Animals guide.
