News
The latest edition of Underwater Photography magazine is now available as a free download.
There’s the usual roundup of industry news and the latest imaging products, which include Backscatter’s Macro Wide 4300 video light, Sea&Sea’s housing for Canon EOS R5, Nauticam’s housing for the Canon EOS R6, Keldan’s RC1 remote control for its video lights, and Inon’s SD Front Mask and Filter Adapter for GoPro HERO8/HERO9.
As you might expect—since virtually no one is actually diving—the issue is almost devoid of gear reviews: There’s just one, on an equipment bag by Think Tank Photo. But if you want to read up on technique, there are a couple of articles to enjoy: James Lynott on capturing fluorescence and a reproduction of Backscatter’s excellent article on strobe positioning.
And that awesome cover shot? Keigo Kawamura’s fantastic image of unicorn shrimp, which was the runner-up in the Macro category of the Underwater Photographer of the Year 2020. The same photo also clinched Gold in the Macro Unrestricted category of DPG/Wetpixel Masters 2020 Competition.
