Italian company Isotta has released their housing for the D850, Nikon’s high-resolution, high-speed DSLR. The D850 boasts a 46MP full-frame sensor, 7fps continuous shooting, 4K/30p and 1080/120p video, and a base ISO of 64.
Made of anodized aluminum and finished in the company’s distinctive metallic red, the housing features twin integrated adjustable handles, dual O-ring seal, and quick-release camera mounting plate. All of the camera’s principal controls are available on the housing and labels are laser-engraved.
The housing ships with a TTL converter for automatic exposure with compatible strobes. Two fiber-optic ports are included, while optional bulkheads allow strobe connection via electrical sync cords. The M16 port can be used for accessories such as a vacuum valve.
The housing, which is available at Backscatter, is priced at $2,990.

Included TTL Trigger
Isotta Housing for Nikon D850 comes equipped with a TTL converter electronics for automatic flash control. It offers the possibility to use external strobes via two standard fiber optic connectors as well as two optional Nikonos sync cord bulkheads. This allows for easy mounting of any strobe and lighting set up.
Double O-Rings on All Parts
An excellent watertight seal is ensured by double O-rings on every mobile and removable part, such as back housing, buttons, ports, caps and connectors.
Single-hand Locking Knob
Isotta housings can be opened and closed with one hand, whilst standing vertically. The single-hand locking knob it’s fast and easy and requires minimal effort by the user. Thanks to steel pins located on the back, opening the housing is safe even if your housing is wet, reducing the risk of flooding to zero.
Integrated Visual and Acoustic Leak Detection System
The housing features a moisture indicator with easily visible red LED signal light, with battery easily replaceable by the user, and an acoustic warning signal.
M16 X1 Hole for an Optional Vacuum System
An optional Vacuum system can be added through the M16 X1 hole.
Lightweight and Ergonomic Design
Compact, solid red anodized aluminum body weighs 2700 grams, 100 grams lighter than the previous 810 housing. Dimensions: 220mm W. x 130mm D. x 193mm H.
Easy Lens Release
Lens release functionality has been re-engineered and is now even easier to use. Exchanging ports and lenses has never been so easy. Different accessories can be fitted by means of an M8 hole positioned on the upper side of the housing and double threaded M6 holes located on housing bottom side.
The back door has a large window anti-scratch glass for a fine camera display and optical viewfinder view and it is entirely detached from the front body to make easier the camera fitting. External viewfinders can be mounted, INON X-2 compatible.
Clear Labelling on Aluminum Buttons
Easy access to all key/main camera controls by means of clearly labelled laser-engraved longlasting aluminum buttons and dials, even with gloves and drysuit gloves.
Anodized Aluminum Handles
Anodized aluminum housing handles are designed to make easier the handling and directioning of the housing underwater: the adjustable handles are crafted to match the human hand and make holding the camera very comfortable even throughout long dives.
Ports and Extension Rings
A series of ports and extension rings are available in dedicated section. The removable port is fitted thanks to markers and a bayonet 120 mm connection to the Nikon D850. The interchangeable port bodies and extensions rings combine to allow the use of most of lenses on the market for maximum versatility and performance.
