We’ve all been there. There’s a jaw-dropping image on the DPG Instagram page that you want to share with your friends—but you can’t.
Instagram users have long lamented the lack of a share function akin to those on other social media platforms. Existing solutions—such as downloading third-party apps and copying photos—call into question copyright infringement. Now a new report suggests that Instagram is testing a sharing function called “Regram.”
According to a report from TNW, Instagram is clandestinely testing this not-so-secret feature. Currently, many underwater photographers see their photos used without permission by other Instagram accounts. The Regram tool would presumably credit the original photographer and link back to his/her Instagram page.
We don’t know when the new share tool will roll in with an update, but until then we encourage you to follow DPG on Instagram so you can identify which images you want to eventually “Regram.”
