You know all of those annoying clips where people forget to turn their phones to a landscape orientation, so you have a disorientating vertical video? Well, know they have a homeland: Instagram TV.
Instagram announced IGTV, which will be a standalone app that allows users to share and view videos up to one hour in length in a vertical format. Instagram shared in a blog post how the IGTV app will be different from existing Instagram use: “First, it’s built for how you actually use your phone, so videos are full screen and vertical. Also, unlike on Instagram, videos aren’t limited to one minute. Instead, each video can be up to an hour long,” the blog reads.
Finding content on the new app should be simple, as it will migrate your existing follows and display the videos created by those users. As well as “Following,” the app will feature “For You” and “Popular” tabs to suggest videos and channels. Note—while the format will mimic YouTube’s channel model, IGTV will maintain the term “follow” instead of “subscribe.”
IGTV will begin rolling out over the next several weeks for both Android and iOS. So, what would you like to see from a DivePhotoGuide IGTV? Let us know in the comments or drop us an email.
