Ikelite Underwater Housings For Sony W Series & Nikon Cool pix
By Jason Heller, August 24, 2008 @ 02:00 AM (EST)
Ikelite announces new ultra compact digital housings for Sony DSC-W120 and W130, DSC-W300, DSC-W150 and W17o, and Nikon Coolpix S210 Nikon Coolpix S550.
Housings are based on a similar design. All camera controls are fully functional through the housing and depth rated to 200ft (60m).
The housing measures 15.2cm (6") wide; 11cm (4.4") high including controls; and 8.6cm (3.4") deep including port. The housing weighs just 660 gram (1.5 lbs) above water and is nearly neutral underwater with camera installed.
An included flash diffuser improves lighting quality when the camera's built-in flash is used. The bulit-in flash is only effective when less than a meter feet from the subject in clear conditions, but for better results an external slave strobe can be used. These are much more powerful, recycle more quickly, and eliminate more backscatter than the camera's built-in flash.
