Ikelite Now Shipping Housing for the Sony Alpha 7 Series
By Ian Seldrup, December 28, 2015 @ 05:00 AM (EST)

Ikelite has released a new housing for Sony’s flagship Alpha 7 full-frame mirrorless cameras series. The housing is compatible with the a7 II, a7R II, and a7S II, but none of the “Mark I” versions, due to differences in lens and control placement.

As we reported during DEMA, in a departure from their signature all-round transparent polycarbonate construction, the new housing is made of an opaque gray polycarbonate material, with just the back remaining transparent. Crucially, when used with Ikelite’s latest DS strobes, the housing provides TTL support via a direct electrical connection; other strobes are compatible but must be used in manual exposure modes. The housing accepts a variety of ports to allow the use of a wide range of lenses from Sony, Canon, Sigma, and others.

Included in the box are an aluminum tray, quick-release handle with rubberized grip, and two zoom sets—one for use with larger diameter zoom lenses and another for smaller diameter zoom lenses. The MSRP of the new housing is $1500 (port not included).
