Ikelite Announces Housing for Olympus XZ-1

By Joseph Tepper, September 8, 2011 @ 06:42 PM (EST)

Ikelite has announced the release of their housing for the Olympus XZ-1 high-end compact camera. The housing and camera combination is the company (and one of the market’s) most compact, true TTL systems.

“Proprietary conversion circuitry allows two-way communication between the camera and Ikelite Substrobes providing true TTL exposure,” explains the company’s press release.

While this electronic connection will provide shooters with more accurate automatic exposures, it will also save significant camera battery power when compared to a fiber optic connection. The housing is rated down to 200 ft. and provides access to all camera controls except the “flash open switch.”

The housing is expected to retail for $550 –the least expensive non-Olympus housing for the XZ-1 on the market- and more information is available from Ikelite’s product page.

Please remember to support our official retail partners, Backscatter, and check out their website for this gear and all of your other underwater photography needs.
