There were such high hopes for a monk seal pup born five months ago on an Oahu beach. Volunteers immediately moved in to protect the baby and give the endangered creature the greatest possible chance for survival.
But this story does not end as they had hoped. Today, in Waimanalo waters, state crews found the female monk seal pup dead, trapped and killed in a fisherman's net...
