Greenland Hunters Waisting Seals
By Matt J. Weiss, September 11, 2008 @ 02:00 AM (EST)
Just about a month after whalers from Greenland left dead narwhal bodies on the shore to decay, it has been found that sealers have also been wasting marine mammals.
Seals have been found in the garbage around hunting areas, and while the animals are not endangered, there is no reason to kill animal only to throw it out.
There have been reports of hunters shooting 50 seals and then just take one home to eat. Greenland has already had an image problem when it comes to marine mammals, and now its sealers can join its whalers on the list of careless hunters with no regard to sustainability guidelines.
