GoPro just can’t catch a break with it’s Karma drone. Just days after the much-anticipated gadget was announced, DJI unveiled an arguably superior model.
And now, it appears there is a battery issue with the 2,500 Karma drones that have already been sold. According to a release from GoPro, some units completely lost power during operation. They advise that even if your drone appears to be functioning normally, that it’s probably a good idea to stop using it—especially if you engage in marine aerial photography!
Owners are encouraged to send their current Karma drones in to be replaced once the cause of the issue is discovered and fixed. If you want to invest your money elsewhere – a DJI Mavic, perhaps – GoPro is offering a full refund. Click here for details on the recall.
As you may expect, GoPro stock has been hit hard by the news. It dropped nearly 10 percent in early morning trading before rebounding to a closing price of $10.41. That’s still a long way from the high of more than $85.
