Giant Clam Fossil Discovered

Researchers believe this species accounted for over eighty percent of local giant clams 125,000 years ago.  Today, relatives of this giant clam are endangered due to over exploitation by humans. 

Fossils of T. costata were found mostly in shallow areas, it's relative T. gigas is known to grow up to 1.4 meters long.
