If you need any more motivation to protect sharks, we present to you the amazing story of a four-year-old girl giving all of her birthday money to shark conservation efforts. Young Phoebe Luijten recently celebrated her birthday and requested that guests skip the gifts and help her raise money for a Cayman Islands shark conservation project
In total, Ms. Luijten raised $340 for “Shark Conservation Cayman,” which is a collaboration between the Cayman Islands Department of Environment and Marine Conservation International.
When the local paper – the Cayman Compass – asked the young girl why she decided to forgo presents , she responded, “because they are good for the environment.” If you feel like following in the intrepid youngster’s footsteps, visit the Shark Conservation Cayman website.
