First International Shark Image Contest-SharkImages Photo Award

Sharkimages is the first international imaging competition dedicated solely to sharks.  Photographers can enter in any of the four categories which include portraits, wideangle or fisheye panorama and conservation and shark-catch.

The shark image team writes:

In many private collections you can find rare and excellent shark images and due to the increasing number of semi"professional photographers the numbers and also quality improves. Additionally there are also manyf professional photographers who do not enclose all their pictures or participate competitions. So there is only a small part of shark"pictures known!  As there are nearly 500 Shark"species that’s a real shame... 

That was the reason for Sharkproject to start the world’s first international shark image competition. Due to a fantastic support of photo" and diving equipment industry it became one of the highest remunerated competitions of the last years and its really worth participating!

Many encouraged people report also the worldwide slaughtering and extermination of sharks and that is a very important part for Sharkproject. Therefore there is " beside the 3 classic categories " also a valuable top"price in the conservation category.

Additionally there is an option for the participants to join the shark images"stock"agency and to sell their shark pictures there. There the shark"protection can benefit. Participating the stock agency is NOT required for the competition, but there is the possibility!

Here is what you can expect from the competion:

-Material prices with a total value of around 20.000,- EUR

-A professional judgement of  the images of some by some of the worlds best known underwater photographers

-A superb presentation of prizes on the showstage of europes largest watersport exhibition BOOT 2009 in Dusseldorf

-Making money incl. – the option to offer the pictures after the competition through one of the prestigious image agencys

-Three categories, in which professionalism of the shot and the photographers ability count
attractive and valuable prices for the first three ranks of each category and additionally an outstanding „Best of show“ price for the best participant (on points) of all three categories

-Additional Special-category „Environment + Sharkcatch“ in which besides technique and professionalism the realisation of the theme counts above all

-Precious Conservation-Award in this special-category for the most conclusive submission
