First Look At The Sea & Sea D300s housing

By Matt J. Weiss, December 1, 2009 @ 01:12 AM (EST)

Here is a first look at the Sea & Sea D300s housing, the MDX-300s. The D300s features a 12.3-megapixel CMOS sensor, a 51-point autofocus system, a faster 7 frame-per-second (fps) continuous shooting on top of the ability to shoot HD video. You can learn more about the D300s in our initial coverage of the camera release and in the equipment section

The Sea & Sea MDX-D300s housing seems to keep many of the features you would expect from the company, plus it will give you the ability to access the video features of the D300s.  The housing is set to be released in late January and retail for $3995.0. Below are the images.

Looks like Sea&Sea is listening to what is said by customers, as they made good use of the opportunity to add some new features to this already great housing, based on these images here are the changes I could quickly found out:
-The new OK button (now accessed via a button on the top-right side of the normal thumb-pad controls);
-New inclined playback and delete buttons (to match the inclined menu buttons);
-New inclined Main-Command dial;
-New Sub-Command dial in the same wheel style as the back Main-Command dial, and closer to the right hand fingers;
-New optical connectors for easy TTL;
All these changes makes the back of the housing not compatible with the existing MDX-D300 housing, but although the new housing is somewhat bigger than the old non-S model, I think all the changes are really ergonomically sound and will make a very good housing even better.
