
Fire Hits Reef Research Station

STAFF and students were evacuated from the University of Queensland's Heron Island Research Station after a fire broke out early this morning.
A number of buildings, including the station's research laboratories and part of the staff accommodation, were destroyed in the blaze, which fire investigators said was caused when an oxygen tank exploded.
No one was injured, and Queensland Fire and Rescue officers are continuing their investigations...
