South African abalone expert Anna Mouton will visit Port Fairy next month to investigate a deadly abalone virus which has infected offshore reefs and spread out of a quarantined zone.
The experienced animal health veterinarian will assist fisheries officers detect what has caused the disease, unearth how it is spread and plan for future biosecurity...
