The Seamount expedition has returned from its trip and they have found some amazing stuff. I love when these deep water expeditions come back with images of their findings. The critters always surpass my wildest expectations.
This is what the news announcement had to say about the expeidtion.
A team of the world’s leading marine experts, paired with scientists from the Indian Ocean region, have just returned from a six-week research expedition above seamounts in the high seas of the Indian Ocean with a whole new understanding of seamount ecosystems. They gathered a very rich collection of data and specimens, including some strange-looking marine creatures.
Strange-looking indeed! Check out the photo gallery BBC news put up of animals they found. The one I was most excited to see was the barreleye fish. I remember the first time I saw this fish I was blown away. I still am now.
