The Epson Red Sea 2008 contest has created a new category where the winner can then donate the prize - 5000 US dollars- to a shark conservation agency. The category called Winning & Donating is very innovative and exciting. Keri Wilk of DPG will be down in the Red Sea to cover the event later this year. A Modeling Book for 11 Fish-Models
October 20, 2008, Tel Aviv, Israel
Epson Red Sea 2008 is proud to announce a new and innovative category for this year competition. The new category is called “Winning & Donating” and includes 11 photographers representing 11 different countries from all over the world.
Epson Red Sea 2008 Competition is held for the 4th year in a row, in November 10-15th, 2008, at the Isrotel"yam suf" Hotel of Eilat, Israel. Prizes this year are valued over $80,000.
Epson Red Sea Competition will be divided into two main categories.the first is called "Images of the world", ,and the deadline for registration and receiving entriesis:October 30, 2008.
The second category is called "Eilat shot out", and participants in this category will submit only images that were taken during the three days of the competition in Eilat November 10-15.
The “Winning & Donating” category is considered to be part of the “Eilat Shoot Out” category. It was conceived several months ago when 11 websites and magazines from 11 different countries announced an annual competition open to all underwater photographers in their countries.
This is true skill and artistic talent by any definition, as each photographer will have to do his best to make his fish-model appear as the most photogenic of all and become the fish of the year.
Noam Kortler,who was chosen to represent Israel,stated that “Epson Red Sea 2008 creators sure found a way to spice up the traditional macro and wide angle themes that are usually assigned in photo competitions. When you come to think of it, this assignment is in reality every photographer’s dream!
the winner in the “Winning & Donating” category will receive a $5,000 check courtesy Of the Israeli Diving Authority and will be granted the opportunity to donate it to an international shark conservation organization .In addition, the winning photographer will be granted a diving safari for two in Fiji Islands with NAI'A luxury sailing live aboard, courtesy of PACIFIC ISLANDS TRAVEL
, valued at $6,200.
