EMS World- Diving Safety Article
DPG contributor Drew Wohl has put together an article for EMS World, which gives useful information on diving emergencies.
Whether an experienced EMT –much like Mr. Wohl is– or a Junior Open Water Diver, it is important to understand the signs and principles of dive related issues. The article begins by overviewing the role pressure and gas laws play in diving emergencies, and follows with descriptions of the primary concerns in real life situations- barotrauma, AGE, DCS, Nitrogen Narcosis, Oxygen Toxicity, and Carbon Monoxide poison.
While many of us have an eye stuck in our viewfinders for entire dives, it is still important to be vigilant about diving safety to ensure we can continue to do what we love to do and help others around us do the same.
