If you’ve been itching to get into aerial imaging, but have been thrown off by the price or size of drones—this news is for you.
DJI has unveiled a $99 entry-level drone called the Tello. The announcement comes at the dawn of CES 2018 news (much more in the coming days) and is likely to be one of the larger drone-related stories.
The Tello is a combined project between DJI and Ryze Robotics. There’s a lot packed into such a portable, affordable drone including an Intel processor for photo processing (5MP) and 720p live video transmission. Sure, it’s not a professional-level drone by any means: But the Tello’s specs are impressive for its $99 price point. Here are the other specs:
- Weight: approximately 80 g (with propellers and battery)
- Built-In Functions: Range Finder, Barometer, LED, Vision System, WIFI 802.11n 2.4G, 720P Live View
- Max Flight Distance: 100m
- Max Speed: 8m/s
- Max Flight Time: 13min
- Photo: 5MP
- Video: HD720P30
- Electronic Image Stabilization: Yes
The Tello is available for pre-order and will begin shipping closer to March.
