Dive Damai Offers A Boutique Live Aboard Experience In Indonesia

By Jason Heller, January 9, 2009 @ 02:00 AM (EST)
As our readers know, Indonesia is one of our favorite destinations. I've personally been to Indonesia twice a year for the last 5 years, and fully intend to keep going back - the diving and underwater photo / video opportunities are really that good!

A new live aboard company, Dive Damai, is introducing a new concept in the diving industry: a "boutique liveaboard". Their hook - 3 divers per guide and semi-private diving.
Indonesia Diving
According to Alberto Reija, "Damai is an Indonesian word meaning peaceful, and perfectly reflects our vision, providing tranquility above the water while avoiding crowds down below."

Dive-Damai is dedicated to small groups and offers the chance to enjoy diving  remote areas in Indonesia, while experiencing semi-private service with an unlimited number of dives and liberal bottom time.

The boat will be designed as a high-end luxury liveabaord, hosting  no more than 8 customers at once and will specialize in catering to underwater photographers and videographers. Who can argue with unlimited digves per day, individual rinse tanks, dedicated charging stations for each passenger, and an option for 32% or 36% nitrox.

Dive Damai will have itineraries to Bali, Komodo, Raja Ampat, Triton Bay, Derawan, and the Banda Sea.

@JoeE Indonesia is my favorite place to dive healthy bio-diverse reefs. This is the epicenter. Not the place for big animals, but the reefs are simply the best in the world I have dived. I go to Indonesia at least once a year sometimes twice.

I've never been to Indonesia but keep hearing about different areas and places to dive. Is it really as good as every one says it is? Is the flight worth it?
