Dive into Divemaster Game for iPad
By Joseph Tepper, September 12, 2011 @ 07:00 AM (EST)

Ever wonder what it’s like to be a Divemaster? Now a new game from filmmaker and designer Gyula Somogyi will give you the chance to try out this dream job right in your living room.

The game centers on the real-life responsibilities of any Divemasters: managing and leading a group, helping identify marine life, and much more. The simple mechanics of the game let the player feel real diving physics on their iPad and even use industry standard solutions to solve problems.

According to the press release, “The player must connect the divers to those animals they wish to photograph. Each photo taken rewards the player with tips from the divers. Using these tips the divers can be upgraded by means of training and new equipment. Just like a real Divemaster, the player must take good care of their divers: if they run out of air, they will die and the game will end.”

So if you feel like trying to be a Divemaster for a few hours out of the day without quitting your job and moving to the Caribbean, than this app is for you. It seems to include most of the activities that fall on the Divemasters’ shoulders- that is except dragging hundreds of tanks every week!

The game is expected to be released later this fall, but a pre-launch preview can be found on the official game website.
