Dema 2008: ReefNet

By Matt J. Weiss, October 30, 2008 @ 02:00 AM (EST)
My good friends Les, Kris and DPG editor Keri were at DEMA representing ReefNet. For those that don’t know, ReefNet has an extremely diverse, innovative and intriguing product line that features everything from dive data records, interactive DVD field guides, and the popular H2Y0 noisemaker.

At DEMA 2008 they were showcasing their SubSee Magnifier. Manufactured by ReefNet themselves, the SubSee is a powerful +10 diopter. It is designed to work on the 100/105 mm lenses and fill the frame with a 9 millimeter subject.

The SubSee itself sits on a flip accessory that allows the diver to flip the magnifier above the lens for bigger macro subjects. Most popular macro ports are in stock, but any order can be made in 48 hours. They are available for both DSLRs and compact cameras and a dual flip prototype was also displayed so one would be able to use your inon magnifiers as well.

The SubSee is an awesome product that I got to see in action when Keri was first testing the flip mechanism in action in Bali. As a testament to its abilities, Keri has recently won 1st place tropical fish shot and 2nd place macro in the international Vodan photo competition, the first competition he has entered since using the SubSee. Both Jason and I have since bought one. Nice job Keri!
