DEMA 2007: Subal

Subal is starting to pick up a little more steam in the US, after a long run as a popular housing brand among underwater photographers in Europe. Subal is focusing first on the new Canons, with the new Nikon housings to follow soon thereafter, sometime early next year.
Rolf showed me the housing for the 1D Mark III, along with a prototype
for the 40D, both compact and
streamlined bodies. An innovative new feature is
a new bayonet ring to accommodate wider lenses and therefore larger ports. You
can however purchase an adaptor to use old ports if you have no need for the
larger ones. It’s nice to have the flexibility of these different options.
Another new item in Subal’s line
will be a 10” glass dome, which will be available this December. As Rolf shows
us, it’s simply a beautiful piece of glass.
