Delkin Releases the World’s Fastest CF Memory Card

By Joseph Tepper, August 31, 2011 @ 07:00 AM (EST)

Imagine this- on a liveaboard, you come up from a dive with dozens of amazing pictures! You wipe off your housing in a rush, eager to pop that memory card out and download your images, but in all of that haste some water trapped in a groove spills onto the card. Fear not, there is a new, waterproof card on the market that features unparalleled speed and ruggedness.

Today, Delkin Devices –makers of camera electronics and accessories- announced the release of their waterproof “CombatFlash 685.” The latest CombatFlash CF card comes in 8 and 64GB variations and boast a transfer speed of 103MB/s.

"Since we launched our initial CombatFlash lineup of CF cards in 2010 we've had fantastic success among professional photographers and videographers," explains Marketing Manager, Anna Lopez. "Unlike a traditional CF memory card, the CombatFlash PCB is protected with a Tekta infusion process that enables the card to achieve phenomenal reliability and performance in environments where a normal CF card would typically fail. The card is protected from underwater submersion, solid impact, corrosion, rust & more. That reliability equals a day of production that doesn't need to be reshot, or a climb up Mount Everest that is captured reliably. It equals invaluable peace of mind."

The card is also designed to work in almost any climate, passing tests in freezing temperatures to well above 150 degrees Fahrenheit! The cards are expected to retail at $149.99 for the 8GB and $899.99 for the 64GB; but the price might be worth it in the distinctively “rugged” world of underwater photography. More information can be found on Delkin’s official website.
