Love that D850 DSLR camera you purchased? Well, we’re willing to bet Nikon loves it even more. Building off the D850’s impressive sales Nikon has reported a 776% increase in year-to-year profits.
That’s a rather insane increase, especially since overall revenue in the same period actually dropped slightly. While gross revenue slid by $29 million, overall profitability increased by $318 million in the period of March 2017-2018. And the company gives credit to restructuring and the ultra-popular D850 full-frame DSLR.
“As a result, revenue for the Imaging Products Business decreased by 5.8% year on year to 360,703 million yen,” reads Nikon’s financial report. “Operating profit, however, rose by 76.2% year on year to 30,222 million yen due to the efforts to improve profitability through the restructuring.”
Good work D850 purchasers—you may be helping to singlehandedly save Nikon.
