Coral reef fish limit their growth for sake of survival

Female emerald coral gobies often limit their own growth to remain non-threatening to the largest dominant female - the only ones allowed to mate with the one resident male - a new study by an Australian University researcher has revealed. Marian Wong of James Cook University in Townsville, Australia and his team found during their study that when a subordinate goby approached the size of a dominant, it voluntarily went on crash diets to maintain its own modest position in the social hierarchy...
