Who wouldn’t be honored to have a sea creature named in their honor? Researches in Antarctica recently discovered a new species of hairy crabs and the first thing that came to mind was the hairy chest of former Baywatch actor David Hasselhoff.
Numerous long hairs on “The Hoff’s” body are used by the yeti crab as a way to cultivate bacteria before eating it later.
“Their nickname on the cruise ship was the ‘Hasselhoff crab’, which gives you some idea of what they look like,” said professor Alex Rogers, the leader of the research team.
The real Hoff has seemed to take a liking to his furry friend, creating the hashtag #GotHoffCrabs on twitter.
