Cayman Island 2010 Underwater Film Festival Photo Contest

The Cayman Island's 2010 Underwater Film Festival Photo Contest is accepting submissions. If you have been to the Cayman islands recently and taken some nice underwater photographs this could be a great opportunity for you. All images in this competition must be from the Cayman Islands and the prizes are nice, including a few dive trips. You need to act fast though because the deadline is January 25th. Below are the guidelines, prize information and entry form.

Guidelines for Submission:

  1) The deadline for submissions to the Underwater Photo Contest is Sunday January 24th at midnight.

 2) All entries must be submitted to the following email address citaiff@yahoo.com. 

3) There are three categories for submission: Macro, Landscape and Creative Editing. 

4) Photos must be saved as the category name (Macro, Landscape, Creative Editing) and the photographers name plus a number one or two for the maximum number of submissions (ie. Macro_John_Smith2.jpeg).

 5) You may submit up to 2 photos per category for a maximum of 6 photos.

 6) The winners will be announced at the 2010 Underwater Film Festival which is taking place on Friday January 29th 2010 at the Harquail Theatre in the Cayman Islands. 

7) All photos must be taken in the Cayman Islands, images of other dive destinations will not be considered.  

Prizes:

 First Prize/ Grand Prize Best in Show: Cayman Aggressor II Trip, an underwater Camera as well as a 16 x 20 print of image and a certificate Each category will additionally be judged for First, Second and Third Place.
 

First Place: To receive a Dive Weekend Getaway either at Compass Point OR Cobalt Coast and a print of image 16 x 20 and a certificate 

Second Place: To receive an "Advanced One Hour Underwater Photo Critique" with underwater photographer Cathy Church, a 11x14 print of image and a certificate 

Third Place: a 8x10 print of image and certificate

Contest sponsors do not even keep the entries after the competition. There is no further usage of the photos except to announce the winners or put a photo in an ad for the next competition, so all copyright is retained by the photographer.

Also, it says in the copy at the top that the deadline is Jan. 29, but it is correctly stated in the rules that the deadline is the 25th. The film festival is on the 19th.
