Canon Releases New Prime Lenses
Hidden by the news of the Nikon D800 release, Canon yesterday announced a series of three new lenses including two primes that hold potential for wide-angle underwater photography: redesigned 24mm and 28mm F2.8.
Canon’s decision to update two of its oldest lenses adds a ring-type USM focus motor and the company’s latest 4-stop IS. Additionally, the lenses feature new image stabilization, which is an unorthodox choice for wide-angle lenses. But overall these lenses look to be a solid upgrade and of interest to full frame wide-angle shooters looking to buy new lenses, but not necessarily for current owners.
