In addition to unveiling its new EOS M50 mirrorless offering, Canon also announced the replacement of the Rebel T6, the company’s budget-friendly beginner’s DSLR—as eagle-eyed readers will have noticed in the press release.
Packaged in the same body as its predecessor, the EOS Rebel T7 (otherwise known as the EOS 1400D in the EU) features an upgraded 24MP sensor with Dual Pixel autofocus, but other specs haven’t changed, including a decidedly dated Digic 4+ processor and just nine AF points. Continuous shooing tops out at only 3fps.
When the EOS Rebel T7 hits the shelves in April, the good news will be the price—a mere $550 bundled with an EF-S 18–55mm F3.5–5.6 IS II.
