Call for Images: NYUPS October Meeting
By Joseph Tepper, September 24, 2014 @ 06:00 AM (EST)

The New York Underwater Photographic Society (NYUPS) is calling for images for its October meeting.

The NYUPS theme for October is “Topside Images”—where anyone in the NYC area is invited to come present their favorite travel (above water) images from recent dive trips. Of course, since its an underwater photographic society, presenters are encouraged to include several underwater shots as well.

NYUPS meetings are open to anyone who loves diving or underwater photography. Whether you’re an expert or a novice, you are invited to share your photographs at the meeting on October 7th at 7PM.

Send your images to Joe@DivePhotoGuide.com. More details below in the press release or on the NYUPS website.

What: NYUPS October Meeting (Topside Image Share)
When: October 7th, 2014 (7-9PM)
Where: Alpha Fusion Restaurant (365 W. 34th Street)

When we’re not busy under the waves blowing bubbles, diving takes us to some pretty amazing destinations. Pick your head up out of the water for even a minute and there’s often a wealth of local cultures and vistas to be observed.
At the October NYUPS we want to see your best topside images from recent dive trips. From exotic terrestrial wildlife, to indigenous cultures and haunting landscape, we want to see your best dive destination images at our “Topside Showcase.”
Since we are an underwater photography society, we do ask those who submit images include one underwater image for every two topside images. Please limit total number of images to 15. The topside images should be destination images, NOT souvenir snapshots of your family on the beach.
The ideal size of each landscape orientation image is 10” wide x 7.5” high – no larger. If an image is portrait, the image should be no more than 7.5” high x whatever width (certainly less than 10”.)
All images should be 150 DPI, or pixels per inch, and .JPG files. If you would like to submit videos, please bring them to the meeting as Quicktime files on a flash drive. You might want to send more than one email since we are asking for larger files. Please number your emails or use Dropbox.
In your email, on the subject line please type in caps “NYUPS IMAGES: Macro and Whales” Please email all your images to Joe Tepper at Joe@DivePhotoGuide.com and CC Larry Cohen at larry@liquidimagesuw.com
The deadline for images is Sunday, October 5th. You will receive a confirmation of the receipt of your images from Joe. If you don’t, please contact Larry.
Please note that you do not need to submit images to attend the meeting – feel free to just come and enjoy the images, share and learn a little about improving your photography techniques! We want to stress that our meetings are for photographers of all levels. It doesn't matter what camera you use or how long you've been shooting, NYUPS wants to share the joys of underwater (and topside) imaging with everyone interested.
This month our meeting is back at Alpha Fusion. Our host Henry Yang is a NYUPS supporter and most of his restaurant will be set-aside for us. So join us for a great time having Asian food, drinks and looking at images.
